Abstract:

Giddens is mostly preoccupied with saving social democracy from the crisis resulted from the invasion of neo-liberalism since the early 1970s. He enumerates five basic problems confronting social democracy: globalization, individualism, left - right duality, political organization and problems related to ecosystem. Giddens believes that the main goal of third way policy should be taking a positive stance toward globalization and at the same time keeping its interest in social justice.
