The Effectiveness of Mathematical Thinking Training on Mathematical Performance of Secondary School Students in Primary School

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of teaching math thinking on math performance in elementary school students. This research was a pre-test and post-test semi experimental study with control group. Two primary-school classes in Meybod city in the 92- 92 academic year were selected by random cluster sampling method and after matching the students in terms of mathematical performance, one of the classes was randomly assigned as the experimental group and the other class Selected as control group. Experimental group students, 11 two-hour sessions (weekly two sessions), were out of classroom programs, a math training program, while participants in the control group were waiting for training. Both groups responded to the KMAT test questions and a researcher-made test before and after the implementation of the training program. Also, the first and second semester grades of students were used as pre-test and post-test. Manquois analysis of covariance showed that the students of the experimental group were significantly researched in both tests. In addition to the results of the second semester, the results of the second semester were better than that of the control group. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching math thinking on improving math performance Students participating in the research had a significant effect.
