Reflections on Some Scientific Data in Modern Persian Poetry

The literature fully mirrors the society as it reflects in itself the feelings, sentiments, and ideas of a nation. Depending on the time when it goes through a transition, the society craves for ideas and feelings suited to the ideas and concerns of time in its literature. In the modern time where the science is progressive with a growing speed and its effects on the pillars of the society seem significant, the literature has undoubtedly laid its own effect. More precisely, the modern literature, as a progressive phenomenon in the course of Iranian literature, with its particular approach has opened its arms to a set of new contents and concepts as well as a novel language, structure, and syntax of which it was the initiator together with a new choice of lexicon, thereby demonstrating the effect of science on itself. With its jargon which are simply the terms applied in idiomatic sense, the science has managed to place itself among the vocabulary used by the poet and, at times, has gone further, turned into a theme, and has been manifested in the form of scientific data in the poetry. The use of expressions whether as a word or as a theme or even as a flavor for poetry are all reflective of science in literature, denoting the great influence of science on literature. Thus, the present study aims at exploring some of these scientific data in the modern Persian poetry.
