the relationship between parental child-rearing styles and academic achievement motivation in girl students

The purpose of this research was the developmental study of relationship between parental child-rearing styles and academic achievement motivation in various academic grades. To this study 297 girl student of Tehran schools and their mothers was selected by cluster sampling way (102 students from elementary school, 104 students from first session high school, and 91 students from second session high school). Harte's academic achievement motivation scale for students and Bumrind’s child-rearing styles questionnaire for their mothers were used. Analysis of the data showed the significant relationship between parental child-rearing styles (in Authoritative child-rearing style) and academic achievement motivation (in intrinsic motivation dimension) in first session high school. There was the significant relationship between Authoritarian child-rearing style and academic extrinsic motivation in second session high school. And there was none significant relationship between child-rearing styles and academic achievement motivation in elementary school students. In this research, it is concluded that the relationship between child-rearing styles and academic achievement motivation in the various academic grades, was different.
