It is more than just a trade agreement and it represents a large market led by the US. In particular, the TPP will rewrite the rules of regional trade in a way that boosts the economies of the United States and its allies relative to the economy of Washington’s primary geopolitical rival, China. The post-war Asia Pasific regional order built by the United States and its allies now faces its greatest challenge since the end of the Cold War.
