The relationship between marital satisfaction and sexual satisfaction with couple mental health

Coronary heart disease and deaths resulting from it are rising and is the most important risk factor for mortality and disability in Iran. The role of positive psychological factors as mediators in the disease course and recovery process is debatable. The aim of this study is to evaluate particular psychopathological factors in relation to certain indicators of recovery after the patient’s heart surgery. Therefore, in a correlational descriptive study, 43 patients, referred for heart surgery to Jamaran Heart Center in Tehran, were selected through availability sampling method. The subjects were assessed for interpersonal forgiveness, dysfunctional attitudes, depression, anxiety, stress, and cardiac recovery index prior to their heart surgery and three month following that. Data analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis revealed correlation between dysfunctional attitude and increase in depression level; increase in interpersonal forgiveness and decrease in depression, anxiety, and stress level. Additionally, interpersonal forgiveness and dysfunctional attitudes can predict after surgery fever, pain, and shortness of breath through level of depression, anxiety, and stress. It seems that psychological factors effect recovery process in patients with coronary heart diseases from which interpersonal forgiveness influences psychological health significantly; and stress, anxiety, and depression subsequently.
