Investigating the teaching methods and challenges of Arabic Language in laboratory from the viewpoints of professors and students of Arabic language and literature

Abstract:
Teaching language skills has been not only the first and most effective step in education system, but also the most important concerns of education experts and programmers. However, teaching Arabic language has many problems and shortcomings. These problems are deep and overriding with respect to language skills especially in teaching Arabic in the laboratory. Thus, this study is going to investigate teaching methods of Arabic language in the laboratory by means of questionnaire and surveying. This research from one side attempts to show to what extent Arabic teachers have been successful in teaching this course and to what extent they have put into practice the specified teaching criteria in their classes. From other side this study attempts to offer good strategies for overcoming weak points related to teaching this course. To calculate the data obtain for this study, the searchers used Likert statistic approach. Sample consisted of 10 experts in teaching language skills and 68 students of Tehran University. Main results of this study indicated that the aims of curricular developers are accomplished. However, it also demonstrated that, there were still problems such as using traditional methods, inappropriate teaching strategies, and uninteresting subjects, as well as Lack of educational facilities, and being away from the purpose of specified purposes.
