An Assessment of Internal Evaluations in Departments of Basic Sciences in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences 2015
IntroductionInternal evaluation is necessary as a systematic process for improvement of education or research in universities. The aim of this study was to investigate the status of internal evaluation in departments of basic science in Mazandaran University of Medical Science.
MethodsThis study was cross-sectional. Study was conducted in departments of basic science in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in 2015. The data was gathered by checklists and questionnaires which were based on eight standards. The results of this study were processed through descriptive tests using SPSS 16 software.
ResultsThe results showed that out of a total of 100 points, school of medicine with a score of 56% was in a relatively good state; Faculty of Pharmacy with a score of 70% was in a relatively good state; school of Dentistry with a score of 48% was in a disadvantaged state; Nursing and Midwifery with a score of 59% were in a relatively good state; School of Public Health with a score of 64%was in a relatively good state; Faculty of paramedical with a score of 55%was in a disadvantaged state.
ConclusionBy considering the total scores of internal evaluation conducted by the groups of schools, it is required to improve the quality of education by developing clear strategic objectives and action plans appropriate to the needs of all educational groups.
