Factors Affecting in Addiction and Drug Abuse Through Proactive Approach With an Emphasis Community-based Approach

Drug addiction is one of the main problems of modern societies that is affected by many factors, especially external factors. Therefore, governments are looking for the solutions to minimize the damages from addiction. This paper seeks to answer the question of how to deal with the drug-abuse problems and comparing the effectiveness of the reactive approach against the proactive approach? Firstly, external factors affecting addiction are reviewed, and then different perspectives of preventions are discussed. Furthermore, the triple preventive methods in addiction (namely primary, secondary and tertiary) and social prevention method under the name of comprehensive preventive drug abuse are reviewed. Given the insufficiency of the reactive approach in treatment of addiction, with the adoption and implementation of strict criminal laws, the proactive approach is better than the reactive approach in treatment of addiction.
