Environmental Impacts Analysis of Petrochemical Industries Using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)

Petrochemical industries with regard to their activities such as processing and waste water producing & pollutant gaseous have potentially adverse impacts on the environment. In this study, impacts of petrochemical industries are considered in Mahshahr economic special zone. According to this region, majority of petrochemical industries are constructed adjacent fiords. Therefore, these industries are affecting fiords as most important and high biodiversity ecosystems. In this study, petrochemical industries impacts are analyzed by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and Expert Choice software. In this method, criteria, sub criteria and choices are prioritized and weighted by using Eigenvector software. Moreover, water analyzes results, bed and sediments sampling of fiords are considered at measuring stations of surrounded and free fiords. With regard to measured results and activities essence of petrochemical industries, five water pollutants including TSS, Oil& Grease, COD, Heavy metals and four air pollutants including SOx, NOx, CO2, H2S, Particle matters are recognized as criterion environmental pollutants. Then, pollutants compared and weighted in hierarchy tree on the basis of density and their influence on environmental parameters.
Finally, Results indicate that TSS and COD with o.326 & 0.235 weights should be reduced as most important water pollutants. Also emission of SOx and NOx are known as first importance in air pollution.
