Epistemology of Religious Belief from the Viewpoint of Shahid Motahari and its Influence on Relationship between Religion and Politics

The effective and deciding role of religion in the recent centuries of the history of Iran is undeniable in socio-political changes and it can’t be degraded to the level of secondary and marginal factors. Concerning the importance of this issue, this study aims at analyzing the epistemology of religious belief in the political viewpoint of shahid Motahari with emphasis on relationship between religion and politics. The writer holds that shahid Motahari has intra-religious approach in dealing with issues of “religion” and “government”. The assumption of the study is that depending on religion and religious beliefs in common juridical and interpretive tradition and believing in the comprehensiveness of the religion has resulted in connection of religion and politics in the attitude of shahid Motahari.
