Abstract:
Purpose
the aim of this article is to define that the role of classification in the era of digital space not only has not finished but increased significantly
Methodology
the methodology in this article is based on document and library searching; especially on the viewpoint of Tredinnick in his book” digital information contexts”.
Findings: Classification and epistemology are intertwined. We cannot go through conception unless we classify; or we classify to concept. Dewey, in his viewpoint toward the librarianship stated some traditions that we encounter with them up to now. These are, according to Tredinnick, librarians are as knowledge keepers, they were forbidden or advised not to penetrate into humanism and the noble state of knowledge in that time, and their profession is mainly allocated to women. Now a day, in the era of post modernism, which the librarianship is mainly user-oriented, those ideas are not applicable, anymore.
Originality/Value: Referring to the Islamic traditions toward library and librarianship, the library courses, now, must revise their programs to pace with the new needs of users.
