Evil and Its Effects in the Good Order in Ibn Arabi's Point of View

Author(s):
Abstract:
For Ibn Arabi, evil means lacking and failure to get the aim. The criterion of evil is mildness or harshness of something toward our tastes. He thinks religious legitimacy, also, defines the criterion of evil and good. He thinks evils are nothingness and are divided into two parts including by essence and by accident. He also thinks all kinds of evils, including natural, arbitrary and moral ones, are relative and accidental. He believes that the being of good and evil are necessary for the world in order that divine agency effects. For him, rejecting the most good in favor of less evil, is considered as more evil. In Arabi thinks of the world as the symbol of God’s shadow and divine names, and the principle of personal unity of being and manifestation in which happening evil is accidental.
