My Family-Study, Early-Onset Substance Use Prevention Program: An application of Intervention Mapping

researches show that substance use is one of the health problems in the Iranian society and in addition to an increase in the prevalence; age of onset substance use also declined and reached early adolescence and even less. The aim of this research was to develop family based early-onset substance use prevention program in children (My Family-Study) by using intervention mapping approach.
In this protocol study research intervention mapping approach was used as a framework to development My Family-Study. Six steps of intervention mapping were completed. Interviews with experts, and literature review informed the needs assessment. In the second step created matrices and change objectives. In following developed program plane and evaluation plan.
The use of intervention mapping prepared a systematic, theory and evidence base and determines outcomes, practical and change objectives, determinants, theoretical methods and practical application, intervention, dissemination and evaluation programs.
Intervention mapping provides a systematic, theory and evidence base approach to develop a quality continuing health promotion program.
