Structural Elements of Architecture Art in Quranic Surahs

The creator God, who has created the parts of existence and the whole being, has showed a special kindness to the human being as one creature among the whole universe, since He has sent down his messages by the elected men via revelation for better-living on the earth. So, through the revelational messages, all issues related to human's life have been expressed by direct or indirect indications. Meanwhile, art and architecture didnt remain without benefit and one can claim that in some verses of the Holy Quran, some subjects of art and architecture have been considered. In this paper, structural elements of architecture have been identified and adopted from the verses of holy Quran as well as they have been organized in two general and specific groups of elements. Furthermore, it has been determined how many structural elements are there in each surah as well as which surah presents the greatest number of structural elements. A number of structural elements (whether general or specific) in the surahs have only a single meaning and a number of them too have different meanings. At the end, these elements have been organized in two groups of mono-meaning and multi-meaning elements and finally their meanings have been analyzed.
