Epidemiology of Depression, Anxiety and Stress symptoms in Veteran's Spouses

Aims The aim of current applied research was to epidemiology the depression, anxiety and stress disorder symptoms in Veteran's Spouses (with injuries over 25%) in Tehran city.
Instrument & Methods In this descriptive and survey research, 377 women from Tehran city, Iran, who had veteran husbands were selected by two stage cluster random sampling method in summer 2016 and were responded to the depression, anxiety and stress, DASS-21 and demographic questionnaires. The gathered data were analyzed by Levene's Test, One-Way ANOVA, T Test and Scheffe Post-Hoc in SPSS software.
Findings Age, physical health, and home ownership significantly affected on all 3 scales. Also educational status and number of children had meaningful impact on anxiety scale and employment status affected on depression and anxiety scales (Sig0.05). Evidence of the hypothesis does not support of "somatization" of these disorders.Overall, this study showed 24% of wives have healthy and 76% suspected of thoughts and feelings of depression, anxiety or stress symptoms.
Conclusion Based on the epidemiological study, Psychological trauma is intensified in Veteran's Spouses due to the adverse effects of war. In terms of mental health, this group is considered as vulnerable groups.
