Comarative Analysis of Cita-tions of general psychology Ph.D theses in Allameh & Tarbi-at Modarres universities

The purpose of this research is to comparative analysis of citations of general psychology Ph.D theses in Allameh & Tarbiat Modarres universities.
A descriptive- analytical method was used as the research method. Statistical population consisted of all the references in the 103 psychology Ph.D theses in Allameh & Modarres universities. Microsoft office excel software was used for data analysis.
Findings: The findings show that in Allame and Tarbiat Modarres Universities, English journals with 44.69 & 55.14 percent allocated the most citations in regard to types of references and English language with 72.28 & 84 percent was the dominant language in citation and the time periods of 1380-1384 (2001-2005) & 1370-1374(1991-1995) with 24.33 & 20.33 percent gained the highest citation in comparison with other periods. The average numbers of citations in these two universities are respectively calculated as 132 & 129. The core journals, the most cited authors and books identified. M.P. Seligman in Allame University and Parirokh Daastan in Tarbiat Modarres were the authors with the most citations. In regard to the half life of materials, English Books and theses with 6 & 20.9 years respectively gained the shortest and longest half life in the above mentioned universities.
The findings show that citation status of these two universities has relatively good situation
