Study on usefulness of news graphics in IRIB TV channels and its correctional practices in expert's viewpoints

News graphics can represent a large volume of information in a limited space with a high visual appeal, quick and easy understanding and great amount of objectivity and credibility. Despite of widely used this kind of graphics in world's large media, it is used little in Iran. The main goal of this research is to examine and explain the application, characteristics and features of TV news graphics.
This research aims to answer to “what is the application and characteristics of TV news graphics?” and “what is the strengths and weaknesses of news graphics in IRIB TV channels?” by the qualitative research method (typology and interview with experts ) and to study on graphic elements of a news of each 5 national channels (channel 1,2,3,4 and IRINN) and finally reached to this result that prevailing practices in the mentioned news for communication and transformation of news is speech and language.
Although there are suitable ones among existing graphic works, there are also several weaknesses in using graphic elements in news including not use of worthy and efficient graphic elements, lack of identity elements that reflect Iranian identity and national figures, decorative function that gives no help to predicate news, no relation between images and visual documents and the improper use of color and text in news graphics.
