Identifying and introduced olive cold tolerant clones in Tarom Sofla, Qazvin province

One of the challenges of olive cultivation in Iran, there is the risk of cold in new olive cultivation areas, the basic development needs identified cold tolerant cultivars of olive cultivation in the country. Old olive trees and great variety, but there sporadically in old gardens, this trees are very good potential for achieving some of the goals of reform is one olive. Unfortunately, the use of this genotype with unique properties, including tolerance to environmental stresses, due to the lack identify them, to develop gardens does not exist. This study aims to identify, evaluate and olive cold tolerant genotypes in Tarom Sofla, Qazvin carried out during the years 2007-2008. During this study, after visiting various gardens Tarom Sofla several clones CV Zard with distinct characteristics and unique varieties tolerant to cold conditions identified. In this research to identify and evaluate genotypes that amount of damage to buds, twigs winter annual, flowering and fruit set in the end was lower than the other trees were measured. Statistical analysis showed that severe winter frost olive trees generally have little resistance, but among olive trees, genotypes can be found that are partially resistant to the cold winter. In the end, four genotypes G2, G3, G8 and G9 are more tolerant to cold conditions and the identification of complementary research directions were introduced.
