Analysis of conceptual maps applications to facilitate and improve academic activities

Abstract:
Purpose
Concept map is the visual representation of the relationship between concepts that are linked in the mind of the learner. So It is very important to pay attention to the use of concept maps in academic different tissues. The aim of this study is to identify conceptual maps applications to facilitate and improve academic activities.
Methodology
This research is carried out using library method. Literature review was conducted. "Concept map" was used for searching in Persian and English authentic databases and full-text articles were studied. This article include introduction of concept maps, construction process, introduction of concept map softwares and application in academic activities.
Findings: The results showed the effective application of concept map in different areas of the academic activities. Use of concept maps are in the improvement of teaching, learning, academic achievement, critical thinking, comprehension, creativity, patient education, search and retrieval information. Also the relationship between ontology and concept map facilitate and improve academic activities.
Conclusion
Concept map, clearly, demonstrated the relationships between concepts, as a powerful educational tool. It would organize content in mind, and as a result, meaningful learning occurs. Compared to training methods such as traditional education, corporate training, presentations, face to face training and Blended Learning, a concept map has been more successful
