Evaluate The Effectiveness Of A Developmental Model Based on The Relationship Of Individual Differences (DIR) on Improving Receptive Language In Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Understanding basic language is expressive language. Because children with autism spectrum disorder have lower receptive language skills than their normal peers, providing interventions to improve the performance of their receptive language, is essential. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a developmental model based on the relationship of individual differences (DIR) on improving receptive language in children with autism spectrum disorders. The study population consisted of all children 3-8 years with autism spectrum disorders referred to Rahgosha clinic in Isfahan at the time of the test. 6 pataints were selected by available sampling method according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In this study, the Childhood Autism Rating Scale and Newsha developmental scale were used. The number of sessions for group play therapy based on this theory, held at least 26 sessions for 45-minutes, twice a week. The study was quasi-experimental and practical. In this study pretest - posttest one group is used. After the end of therapy sessions, post tests was conducted in a meeting separately. To analyse data Paired t-test was used. The results showed that there was a significant difference in scores of receptive language. As a result of this research we can say that DIR approach can have positive effects on receptive language in childeren with autism spectrum disorders.
