A Sociological Analysis of Energy Management Strategies (Case Study: Citizens of Sanandaj City)

Abstract:
The present research seeks to answer the fundamental question of how strategies for managing energy consumption affect energy consumption behavior. The research has applied two approaches of structural strategies and psychological strategies and three main components of attitudes toward targeted subsidies, perceived efficiency, and incentive energy consumption policies have been evaluated accordingly. Using the survey method the study was conducted among citizens of Sanandaj city in the year 2017. A sample consisting of 437 people was selected using simple random sampling method. The researchinstrument was questionnaire and for assessing the validity and reliability of the questions, methods of face validity and Cronbach's alpha were used respectively. The research findings indicate that there is a relationship between attitude towards the purposefulness of subsidies, perceived efficiency and environmental incentive policies and energy consumption behavior. This result suggests that energy consumption behavior becomes more responsible with increase in each of these three components. The paper ends up with some necessary suggestions for executives and research-based policy making.
