The Relationship between Sleep Quality and Life Quality in Older People Living in Three Districts of Tehran, Iran

Abstract:
Sleep quality affects quality of life in old aged people and sleep disorders is one of the most common problems in this group. Sleep with poor quality, after headaches and gastrointestinal disorders is the third most common complaints among older people. The objective of this study was examining the relationship between life quality and sleep quality in older people living in nursing homes within three districts of Tehran, Iran. This descriptive-analytical study was conducted in nursing homes for older people under coverage of General Welfare Organization of Tehran, Iran. Ninety elders selected for this study based on random cluster sampling, were able to respond due to their consciousness and not suffering from acute dementia and were willing to participate in the study. The data were collected by using Pittsburg Sleep Quality and Index and Quality of Life Scale. The data were analyzed based on multivariate regression test.
