Health care importance of cysticercus bovis in cattle slaughtered in industrial slaughterhouse of Hamadan in 2014
SummuryTaniasis, caused by Tania saginata, is one of the common diseases between human and cattle. Human infection with adult worms and larval stage of the parasite in cattle was reported from different regions of Iran. The aim of this study is description of the rate of infection and health care importance of the cysticercus bovis infection in cattle in Hamadan industrial slaughterhouse in 2014.
This is a cross sectional analytical descriptive study. In this study the presence of C. bovis in the scapular muscles, heart and thigh, between the ribs and diaphragm and liver of the cattle were surveyed. Both alive and calcareous cysts were studied. Data were analyzed using SPSS- 21 software, descriptive statistics and chi-square test.
The prevalence of C. bovis in 2000 studied cattle was 3.8%. The highest rate of infection was found in heart muscle and there was a statistically significant difference between the rate of infection in different organs (p
