Evaluation of Safety status in Medical Diagnostic Laboratories of Hospitals in Bandar-Abbas, 2016

The safety is a void of potential hazards and in practice means that it is a set of practices, regulations and activities designed to prevent and reduce incidents by eliminating or controlling risks. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety of Bandar Abbas medical diagnostic laboratories.
This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2016. The method of the study was a census survey of all the laboratories in Bandar Abbas, which were 5 in total. The used checklist consisted of seven sections that resulted from the regulations of the diagnostic laboratories and the instructions of the Ministry of Health. Results were analyzed using EXCELL software.
The safety status in the building of laboratory number 1, 2 and 3 in the middle group and hospitals 4 and 5 was classified into a good group. The safety of the warehouse of lab number 1, 2 and 3 in the middle group, lab 4 and 5 was in the poor and a good group. Investigation of safety for fire showed that the labs studied did not have a favorable situation. Among the 5 hospitals surveyed, the hospital's 5 laboratory was almost in better condition than others.
Generally, the safety standards status of medical laboratories there is in “moderate” level and. It concluded other than appropriate guidelines formulating for medical laboratories of hospitals, continuous monitoring should be subject.
