Comparative Study of Economic, Social and Demographic Components in Quality of Life and Health of the Elderly (Case Study: North and South Regions of Tehran in 1395)

Attention to issues and needs of aging is a social necessity to improve the quality of life of the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of economic, social and demographic factors on the quality of life and health of the elderly in the areas (1 & 3) of northern Tehran and the regions (18 & 20) of south Tehran. This study was conducted using descriptive-survey research method. The statistical population includes all males and females over the age of 60 who lived in the regions (1 and 3), northern Tehran and (18 and 20) south of Tehran in 1395 and their number is 168000 people, of which 489 people are from the Cochran formula and Based on cluster random sampling, they were selected and studied. Data were collected by social support questionnaire (MOS), Cronbach's alpha coefficient ranging from 0.44 to 0.93 and QOL, with Cronbach's alpha coefficient (73% to 89%). Be To analyze the data, analysis of variance and correlation coefficient were used.
The results show that there is a significant positive correlation between social support, physical health, social relationships, improvement of living conditions conditions, family income level, social and economic status of the elderly, and their quality of life and their health. Increasing these variables increases the quality of life and health of the elderly. There is also a significant negative correlation between mental and mental discomfort and elderly abilities and their quality of life and their health. Comparison of scores showed that social support for elderly people in northern Tehran is more than elderly in southern Tehran.
