A Content Analysis of the Arafah Supplication Ascribed to Imam al-Husayn

The Arafah Supplication, usually anthologized in Islamic prayer manuals, is ascribed to Imam al-Husayn. Content-wise, it functions as a tutorial provided for the public. Based on several graphs derived from this supplication, it is evident that the most noticeable theme covered in it pertains to knowing Allah, hence monotheism, the Divine deeds, rules, names, and rituals. Other topics covered pertain to knowing the human being, cosmology, and eschatology. As regards the human being, it focuses on his physical, educational, and spiritual needs, his characteristics, certain pieces of knowledge regarding the Divine prophets, the Infallible Imams, and the Resurrection. On the whole, most of the themes covered refer to monotheism, knowledge of the human being, and the Divine guidance.
