A case of acute scrotum caused by Henoch-Schonlein Purpura

Acute scrotum is one of the rare presentations of Henoch - Schonlein Purpura (HSP) and its symptoms may be similar to testicular torsion. In this article, we report a 25 months-old boy with the presentation of purpuric skin rashes, erythema and swelling of scrotum that after necessary evaluations of HSP was diagnosed. He was treated with systemic steroid and all the symptoms rapidly improved. The purpose of this case report is to remind the urologists and pediatricians that acute scrotum is one of the rare presentations of HSP and should be differentiated from testicular torsion for avoiding unnecessary surgery.
