Investigating Allegory in Two Stories of Calileh Va Demneh and Marzban Nameh
Abstract:
Allegory is one of the essentioal litrary geners which in Persian literature has a long application, so the aim of this study was to investigate allegory and it types in the four stories of Calileh Va Demneh and Marzban Nameh. The story of “cat and mouse” and “raven and snake” of Calileh Va Demneh and “rats and snakes” and “mouse and cat” from Marzban Nameh. This study was a descriptive-analytic one, through which the frequency graph was also plotted. The results indicated that all three types of Fable, Parabl and Exemplum are available in the stories and exemplum had the highest frequency. Variant type of exemplum, like, proverb and its distorted versions were also available. The frequency of exemplum and fable was high in Calileh Va Demneh.
