Role of long non-coding RNAs in hematopoiesis and hematological malignancies

Several studies have classified a group of non-coding RNA’s, known as long non coding RNA’s (lncRNA), which are responsible for cell differentiation and causing diseases. It is claimed that lncRNAs play a significant role in hematopoiesis regulation, including differentiation of myeloid, lymphoid and erythroid lineages. The aim of this article is to review different kinds of lncRNAs which are involved in hematopoiesis, further on; the article describes the dysregulation of lncRNAs in hematologic disorders.
In this study, different articles were recruited from different valid databases such as, ISI, PubMed and Scopus.
lncRNAs have recently been identified in a wide genomic scale and only some of their roles have been recognized. lncRNAs have various biological roles in gene expression, cell differentiation and pathogenesis. Recent studies have indicated the expression of lncRNAs in many types of cancers such as blood malignancies.
The abnormal expression of lncRNAs can lead to anomalies in differentiation of blood cells which may lead to malignancies. Studies show that lncRNAs can be served as an indication for diagnosis and prognosis of many diseases as well as being used as a replacement for treatment.
