Abstract:
Structural analysis is the first step in strategic foresight. In this step, the key variables are identified, then, the direct and indirect impacts among the variables are measured. In the traditional MICMAC for structural analysis, the intensity of relations between two variables is measured, using the crisp numbers. But this method is unable to consider uncertainty and ambiguity existing in the data-gathering step and using linguistic variables in finding- presentation step. To address these problems Fuzzy MICMAC analysis or linguistic fuzzy analysis is designed. The goal of fuzzy MICMAC is to make possible use of linguistic string (qualitative variables) in data-gathering step and presenting findings. As it is considered an advanced and complimentary tool for structural analysis in strategic foresight, in this article, after a brief introduction of cross impact analysis with MICMAC method as well as the description of how fuzzy measurement implements, we answer what are the strengths of this method, comparing with the traditional MICMAC.
