Abstract:
Plato's three termed definition of epistemology "Justified true beliefs" has always been coming to the attention of epistemologists and critics. Each of the above three terms plays its particular role, though "justification" has the most importance of all. It is due to the element of "justification" that "a true belief" goes valued and embraced as "a true piece of knowledge". Nonetheless, there are many cases of "a true belief" generated by none-epistemic factors such as blindly following, imitation, inculcation by a group or some authorities, personal or social interests, and the like. By justification, Plato means a reasonable explanation or argument by which "a true belief" goes qualified enough to be embraced as "a true piece of knowledge". Different theories of justification have been proposed by the rationalist and empiricist schools most of which are open to a few objections. Nevertheless, the fundamentalist theory of justification seems less problematic thus more accepted by the epistemologists.
