Investigating the Influencing Factors in the Conversion of Social Space to Element and Urban Symbol from the perspective of identity and collective memories in Shiraz

The city is a memory less city that faces the phenomenon of identity crisis. Events in the city make memories and they need space to create them. The memorabilia spaces already existed in our cities have been degraded. Hence, there are fewer areas for the formation of collective memories in today›s cities and there are few spaces from the past that have become urban signs by changing their usage over time. Therefore, the present research seeks to prove that urban elements can become urban signs by using effective design factors. This research, using available resources, explores several examples of urban space in Shiraz, which have become good urban symbols with a memorable approach. It also shows the spaces that help the city›s identity, and, despite their various uses, have become a good city element and symbol of urban memories.
