Investigating the Religious Effect on the Experience of Citizen's Shame (Case study: Citizens 15 years old up to Isfahan city)

The purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship between religiosity with the experience of shame of citizens; Religiosity is the independent variable with four indicators: "belief, ritual, emotional and outcome" and experiencing the feeling of shame is the dependent variable of the study with indicators of “sense of personal shame” including inhibition, inner shame and outer shame and “sense of social shame” including fear of losing social credit. The study statistical society is the over 15 years citizens of Isfahan city and the statistical sample were determined 388 individuals using Cochran formula. The questionnaires were designed and were distributed among individuals of statistical sample by using sociological theories of Rosenberg, Durkheim, Hirsch and other theorists. To analyze the data SPSS software was used and to check the effect of experience of sense of shame variable from religiosity, the correlation relationship was used. The results show that there is a significant relationship between religiosity and also any of its four indicators with sense of shame of citizens. So in order to improve social morality, action for reinforcement of religiosity and its indicators is suggested.
