A study of traditions related to prohibition of teaching surah Yousof (AS) to women

There are some traditions in the Islamic resources imply on prohibition of teaching surah Yousof (AS) to women and to teach surah Noor instead. Evidences related to these traditions don’t indicate absolute invalidness with regard to some sarcasms. On the other hand, these traditions are liable in somehow by virtue of evidences, but studying their contents show that there are some contradiction between Quranic purposes about guidance and other traditions. This implys on indesire of teaching this surah to women, not prohibition of teaching of it. As a result, these traditions are related to a certain period of time and based on social condition and Arab’s mentality about women in the early era of Islam. Also, these traditions are issued in a male-dominated society in which there has not been any respect for women. However, some Muslim didn’t understand the valuable concepts of surah Yousof and knew this story as a romantic one. There are some evidences in these traditions indicate that the indesire rule is related to a short perod of time. If there were such traditions from Ahlul-Bayt (AS), they would be in accordance with the arranging copies.
