CNN and BBC Soft War in Creating International Islamophobia
The present paper tries to measure the direction and kind of political messages as well as propaganda goals of CNN and BBC toward Islamophobia. Increasing worldwide social and economic regimes as well as the development of globalization thinking, apparently have shaped a concept called international public opinion so that we can present a modern definition of soft war and public diplomacy in international arena. International news agencies equipped with modern facilities try to represent an image of Islam closely connected to violence and terrorism. Here, the author, using quantitative analysis method, tries to reflect scientifically the nature of the soft war made by these news networks to diffuse Islamophobia across the world. The results show that CNN and BBC could accelerate Islamophobia wave across the world by changing the values, altering cognitive interpretations and exciting the emotions. These networks try to change not only the reality of Islam but also peoples perception of the reality of this religion. They also try to show an image of Islam in public opinions which is counter development, against human being and ready to make war.
