Impact of City Competitiveness on National Competitiveness

It is more than three decades that competitiveness has been raised in different subjects like, firms, companies, cities, regions and nations. This concept is important in surveying the reasons of success or defeat, especially in the economic areas. Urban/city competitiveness, also, is a crucial factor in the national or global economic interactions debates. There are 481 cities from all around the world in this study and study was performed librarian. The necessary data were retrieved from some reliable international agencies. Although in some papers it is partly noticed on relationship between urban/city competitiveness, but, the authors did not focused on a comprehensive approach beyond an especial city or country or region. In this paper, it is shown that there is a meaningful relationship between urban/city competitiveness and national economic competitiveness (in global level). On the basis of forgoing analysis city's competitiveness index can be used by policy makers as a guide to obtain some of national urban policies. This, in the national arena, can be a negligible factor in macroeconomic and developmental policy making.
