Drought stress on Elaeagnus rhamnoides (L.) A. Nelson seedlings morphology

Abstract:
It is predicted that the warming effect of climate change will cause to significant changes in the frequency and nature of precipitation and drought stress derived from it reduced growth in all species. There is considerable resistance appraisal in the response of plants to environmental stresses. To assess the impact of drought stress on morphology Sea-buckthorn medicinal plant (Elaeagnus rhamnoides), a pilot for the first time in the nursery Torough of Mashhad in 2013 in a randomized complete block design with three replications and four treatments irrigation was performed. Stressed the control level (every two days), a four-day, eight and twelve days based on soil matric potential of the seedlings a year were applied. Measurement was performed every month during the four months. The results showed that the correlation coefficient diameter trait with other traits except root dry weight had a significant relation. Height, leaf creation, node number, leaf area, specific leaf area and leaf dry weight, with root length and root dry weight not significantly correlated but with other traits were significant. The results showed that the treatments can’t just root dry weight as suitable index for this plant, means only leaf number trait is significant at 5% significant level and remaining traits is seen in 1% of treated. Tukey mean comparisons only character traits stem length were divided into four groups at the one percent level. Survival in treatments two days, four days, eight and twelve days of irrigation, respectively, 95, 95, 66 and 61%, respectively. Resistance of this species is measured according to morphological characters show that Sea-buckthorn it can be cultivated in semi-arid areas in the pilot phase.
