Analysis of Nurse's Job Satisfaction based on Demographic Characteristics

Job satisfaction is one of the key factors maintaining nurse's mental and psychological health that affects performance and service quality of care provided by nurses. Therefor studying these main organizational variables have been considered by many researchers.This study analyzes nurse's job satisfaction in Hamadan educational hospitals based on their demographic characteristics.
This is an Analytic-Descriptive study that was performed on 304 nurses in Hamadan university of medical science's hospitals. Data collection tools included Spector job satisfaction questionnaires.Using descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard Deviation) and inferential statistics (Independent sample t-test, ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc) data were analyzed.
The results showed the majority of participants (%5.47) had moderat job satisfaction level, 3.4 percent had high job satisfaction level and 35.4 percent had low job satisfaction level. And majority of participants in areas of supervision (51%), coworkers (51%) and nature of work (53%) have high level of job satisfaction, interms of promotion (46/7%) and communication (48/4%) have moderate level of job satisfaction, and regarding pay(69/1%), Contingent rewards (79/6%), Operating conditions (91/4%) and fringe benefits (79/6%) have low level of job satisfaction. there was a statistical significant difference in nurse's job satisfaction based on their gender (t=2.8, p=0.005) and job experience (F=4.95, p=0.005). there was not a statistical significant difference in nurse's job satisfaction based on their age.
