Investigation of mythical components of Šab-e Šeš ceremony in Dasht-e Khak village in Zarand

One of the most fundamental infrastructures of culture in our society is folklore subculture which is a reflection of the real culture of the society. This subculture includes customs and traditions as well as the oral literature inherited from the antecedents and is a symbol of cultural richness. In folklore culture, customs and traditions, folk literature and myth are the main foundations having mutual influence on each other in such a way that investigating one is not possible without taking the others into consideration. In fact, the works, thoughts and lives of our ancestors when investigated as present in people’s minds are named folk literature and when regarded as their outside representation are called customs and traditions. In other words, customs and traditions and folk literature are the oral remainders of the life and thoughts of our ancient ancestors transferred orally. These are indicative of our people’s history in ancient times which prove ourlong history and national characteristics. Myth is also a component of folklore culture which has played a crucial role as compared with customs and traditions and folk literature and has deeply influenced them. One of these traditions is the sixth night after birth, called Šab-e Šeš, which is held in various parts of the country with nuance differences but acommon base. Since you may know by a handful the whole sack, this study attempted to describe this ancient tradition in Dasht-e Khak village in Zarand, Kerman with regard to its mythical components.
