Abstract:
The Persian Gulf and its northern coasts have significant historical background from commercially view; Bandar Lengeh is one of the most important ports that played a significant role in the commercial scope of this region. This port is from the Hormozgan province ports, located on the north coast of Persian Gulf, and it was built during the Safavid period. Commercial life of this Bandar began with the expulsion of the Portuguese from Hormuz in 1001 and by the migrations that took place to this port, and it flourished during the late Qajar period, therefore, the purpose of this paper is to study the historical geography of Bandar Lengeh and its role in the Persian Gulf trade. This article is written using the historical method and library research method. The results and findings of the research indicate that Bandar Lengeh became a thriving port due to the migration of groups such as Ghavasem and Bahrainis, and due to this, it could play a major role in the pearl business, and the port has become a transcontinental commercial center in the region due to its natural state, but factors such as customs rules, insecurity, smuggling and ... have caused the stagnation of its trade.
