The Effectiveness of play Therapy on Children's shyness

Abstract:
Shyness always can be characterized, inability to cope with social life, family and carer as a decrease in self-esteem, anxity, feel alon and abandoned and reduced immuniy. In the absence of reform shyness in preschool children in most cases it can be nest to the forms and types of various age and even conyinues to maturecand the person would face serious difficulties. Play therapy is on of the useful interventions that reduce shyness in children. The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of play therapy in rtducing shyness in children. The study method was conducted as an experimental pretest and posttest fashion in the city of shahrood. For this purpose, 30 children of preschool on the city of shahrood during the academic year 2015- 2016 were selected by multi-stage clustering sampling method. The shyness behavioral checklist as are search tool before and after implementation of independent variable (play therapy) was performed and then, the obtaioned data were analyzed using spss software and descriptive and inferential statistic tests (frequentcies and ANCOVA). To evaluate the efficacy op play therapy in reducing shyness in children, analysis of covariance was used. These results showed that two groups had not significant differences in shyness before treatment. While, after the intervention (play therapy) the observed F value (53/18) wastthe significance level of 0/001.
