An Experimental Study on Shotcrete Used in 3D Panel Structures Determining its Characters

In this study, an experimental study on shotcrete used in precast 3D panel structures is presented. The main goals are to identify the structural characteristics of the shotcrete including elastic modulus and poison ratio; that are essential for any numerical analysis which would be carried out by the finite element models. For this purpose, according to No.385 Iranian standard provision which is entitled “the code of practice for design specification manufacturing and construction of 3D panel structures”, two 600x600x150 mm3 boxes were employed; and filled by the shotcrete. It should be mentioned that one box was laid on the ground, whereas the second one was in vertical position; hence, the shotcrete was performed vertically and horizontally, respectively. After 28 days, cylindrical core samples with 14.6 Cm height and 7.3 Cm diameter were taken from both boxes; and they were tested under uniaxial compression tests as well as ultrasonic non-destructive dynamic tests. Of particular interests were the specimens’ stress-strain curves, maximum compression capacity, elastic modulus, and poison ration. The cores which were taken from two boxes were compared in order to investigate the effects of Concrete spraying’s direction on the shotcerete’ specifics.
