The Role of Belief in Mahdiism on Giving Meaning to Individual life

The meaningfulness of life is one of the concerns of contemporary man. Individual and collective thoughts, beliefs and ideals play a decisive role in the meaning of life. One of the beliefs that affects individual life in giving meaning is belief in Mahdiism.In philosophical debates express tree meanings for meaning of life: Purposefulness, Value- orientation, Having a function. In this paper, based on the hadiths of the Prophet Mohammad and the Imams (PBUT), it will be shown that the belief in Mahdism is meaningful to the Shiite's life in terms of all three meanings. In terms of purposefulness, the belief in Mahdiism gives meaning to life in the sense that the world is moving towards goodness and emphasizes the development of justice and fights against oppression and corruption. Regarding the Value- orientation, given that the belief in Mahdiism are considered to be of value because of the revival of true Islam, the provision of well-being, tranquility, satisfaction, and love to the beloved, life becomes meaningful. Also in terms of having a function, life of the waiters will be meaningful, because belief in Mahdiism results in Piety, ethical responsibility and hope.
