The innovation policy aims to support an increase in the productivity, profitability and market share of European firms through the development and adoption of new or improved products, processes and services. Moreover, the EU intends to improve innovation support and also helps in understanding specific drives and barriers to innovation at sector level.
In OECD countries, public policy has direct or indirect impact on factors that affect innovative activity. All OECD countries use significant amounts of public money to support innovation activities that intend to stimulate innovation.
