The Way Media Treat the Phenomenon of Arbaʻeen with an Emphasis on the Strategies of Arbaʻeen Procession

Author(s):
Abstract:
Arbaʻeen (The anniversary of the fortieth day after Imam Hussain’s martyrdom) is the day of pilgrimage. This pilgrimage can play a role as a medium and symbol of geo-political power, and the right reflection of this event in media is a new opportunity for the Islamic world. From the beginning, the foreign Media would censor the phenomenon of the Arbaʻeen, but in the subsequent years, they would point at marginal issues or frame it only to show a little aspect of this great phenomenon. Last year, some people treated it by labeling and false claims. Indeed, this news policy cannot be continued in future because, on the one hand, it will decrease the audience and, on the other hand, the alternative media would cover the news to fulfill the needs of the audience, then the real mass media would be forced to do such coverage. Presently, the capacities of the uprising of Imam Hussain and walking in the Fortieth Day must be re-identified and compiled according to various cultures. Herein, producing smart and creative documentary and visual programs will produce developments in this respect.
