The effect of natural factors in the formation and persistence of the historical city of Dehdasht

Dehdasht, among the historic cities in the southwest of Iran, had its greatest boom in the Safavid era. Today’s city is located on the southeastern edge of the new city. Considering the location of this city in relatively warm and dry climate, various environmental and geographical components were effective in its formation and survival. How these factors interact over the centuries is a matter of leading research. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of environmental factors on the formation and survival of the city in more than 400 years. Therefore, the present study addresses the question that the most important environmental factors affecting the formation and survival of the historic city of Dehdasht? And what have these interlocutor’s history over the history of the city to survive? To answer these two questions, citation research of written historical sources and surveying surveys of the authors of the two methods of data collection in the present study resulted in analyzing the data through descriptive-analytic analysis. Dehdasht’s historical city, despite its slight architectural and structural differences with other cities in Iran, has common features with which it is possible to identify and study these characteristics, and outline the general patterns of the traditional Persian city. The result is that proper accountability to natural and climatic features (such as bowl shape, harsh weather conditions, sudden atmospheric changes, water shortages) has defined a specific physical structure for the Dehdasht historical city, This physical structure has led urban planning to be considered for problems such as drinking water, difficult geographic and climatic conditions, including dealing with hot and burning winds, as well as soil fertility, architectural and environmental adaptation. These remedies were usually used to protect the city physically through natural factors, which led to neglect of the city’s defense components.
