The Roots and Results of the Disagreements between Saudi Arabia and Qatar

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have had varying relationships over the last several years. Due to root conflicts such as territorial, political and ideological differences, they could not conceal these gaps, and these relations have already broken apart. Qatar has always opposed Saudi Arabian protégé policies and despite the lack of hard power factors tried to challenge Saudi Arabia, through the soft power factors such as powerful economy, powerful media arm, and ideological power like Brotherhood current. In this paper, through the descriptive-analytical method and based on library studies and virtual resources, we have tried to explain the roots of these differences and gaps, as well as the implications of these gaps in domestic and regional level. The findings suggest that the increase in gaps between Saudi Arabia and Qatar has undermined the coherence of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as the chance to adopt a common policy.
