Finding of Related goals of Public Libraries in Upper National Documents of the Islamic Republic of Iran

To identify the scientific, educational, cultural and social goals of public libraries in the vision document and the fifth and sixth development plan, The general policies of the country's economic strength document, Document of the comprehensive scientific plan of the country, document of the country's cultural engineering plan and the document on the fundamental transformation of education. This descriptive study was conducted by documentary method and analytical content analysis based on 12 missions of the public library from the IFLA in the upstream documents of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Findings: The examination of documents on the one hand shows that in some related sections to the goals of public libraries, they are not directly mentioned in public libraries, while some of these sections are pursued and implemented by the public libraries. On the other hand, in view of the goals and characteristics of the public library, it is possible to identify in the upstream documents the sections in relation to the goals and roles of the public library and to design and implement the necessary measures for the operation of these sections by public libraries
Value: The present research can provide a clear picture of the major educational, cultural and information goals of the country related to public libraries, while also positioning these libraries in the vision document and development plans Aims at identifying and defining new roles for public libraries in fulfilling the diverse educational, cultural and information goals of the country.
