The effects of Saudi foreign policy in Yemen on Iran's role in the Middle East

The strategic position of the Yemeni state in the Arabian Peninsula especially in terms of dominance over the strategic strait of Babel-El-Mandeb, which is important for the transit of oil, goods and weapons, has always been a concern for the governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially Saudi Arabia, as the backyard of that country. On the other hand, According to the Saudi government in view of the Shiite population living in Yemen,Leaving this country out of Saudi control will further increase Iran's influence in the region, as well as strengthen the resistance.The article aims to answer the question of how Saudi foreign policy in Yemen affects the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Middle East. In response to the main question of the paper, the main hypothesis has been tested by which Saudi Arabia considers Iran's role in strengthening the resistance axis as an intervention of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Arab Middle East region and to reduce its influence and regional role evaluates.Result show that In response to this threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saudi Arabia's view of the developments in Yemen is a war with Iranian power and its influence on the Arabian Peninsula along its southern borders and an attempt to eliminate Iran's allies. So Saudi Arabia is struggling to expand its influence through cooperation with other regional and transatlantic actors and counterbalance the resistance axis, especially in the area of Yemen's transformation. This has the consequences and feedback for balancing the power of the two regional powers of Iran and Saudi Arabia. The theoretical framework used in this paper is the power balance, which has been written down by a descriptive analytical method and with a library of vector mapping tools.
